Lepaparazzi News Update: Tyson arrested, suspected of DUI, drug possession
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Mike Tyson was arrested early this morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of cocaine after police stopped him shortly after he left a Scottsdale nightclub.
Sgt. Larry Hall said the boxer was stopped after his car almost struck a sheriff’s vehicle while leaving the club at about 1:45 a.m.
“He showed signs of impairment and voluntarily submitted to field sobriety tests,” said Hall, a member of the Buckeye Police Department who was working in the area as part of a holiday DUI task force.
Hall said Tyson was placed under arrest after “showing more signs of impairment” during the field sobriety tests. Police then found cocaine on him and in his car, Hall said. The boxer was alone in the car.
Tyson was booked at a Maricopa County sheriff’s jail and was expected to have an initial appearance before a judge later Friday to determine bail, Hall said.
Tyson, who shot to fame by knocking out Trevor Berbick in 1986 to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at age 20, has had several run-ins with the law over the years, including serving prison time for rape. He most infamous incident was in the ring in 1997 when he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear during a fight.

Lepaparazzi News Update: Fans in Augusta Pay Tribute to Brown
AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - The James Brown statue on Broad Street, his hometown, was draped in an American flag and a red scarf Tuesday as several dozen people gathered to pay their respects to the late singer.
Flowers were left at the base of the statue in tribute to Brown, who died Monday in Atlanta. He was 73.
One visitor to the statue, John Arthur Thomas, 73, of Daleville, Ala., said he stopped by because Brown was a legend and he had "done a lot of things from the heart to help people."
"There were some troubled times in his life, like everybody else, but he meant well," Thomas said. "He is a legend. There will never be another James Brown."
Consuelo Miller, 32, of Syracuse, N.Y., whose husband, Rodney, is stationed at Fort Gordon with the U.S. Army, came to the statue with her son and stepdaughter so her children could say that they were there.
"I just wanted to bring the kids down here to let them see a great star," Miller said. "He is the `Godfather of Soul.'"
The Rev. Al Sharpton will officiate at Brown's funeral service, details of which were still incomplete, said Brown's agent, Frank Copsidas.
Sharpton said he and Brown's two daughters planned to view the singer's body Tuesday afternoon at an Augusta funeral home and finalize funeral arrangements.
Brown's daughter-in-law Diane Dean Rouse said she hoped the funeral would be open to the people of Augusta.
The singer died of heart failure less than two days after he had been hospitalized with pneumonia and only three days after leading his annual holiday toy giveaway in Augusta.
He also had diabetes and prostate cancer that was in remission. But he initially seemed fine at the hospital and talked about his New Year's Eve show at B.B. King Blues Club in New York, Copsidas said.
The B.B. King club, which promised ticket holders a replacement show, will announce Wednesday who will be filling the spot, said public relations director Rena Siwek.
"We're working furiously here," Siwek said.
The New York City club wasn't the only venue affected by Brown's death. Some 1,400 tickets had been sold as of late last week for a show Wednesday night at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Conn. The show was to kick off a national tour. The theater box office was issuing refunds.

Lepaparazzi News Update: Britney Spears Moves to Beverly Hills
Britney Spears has moved into a new house – a $7.2 million Mediterranean style home in an exclusive gated community off Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills, according to real estate sources.
Spears, 25, has already left the Malibu mansion where she lived with her estranged husband, Kevin Federline, and their two children.
"She's moved in," said one nearby homeowner who asked not to be identified. "She's a neighbor."
The new 7,453-sq. foot house has five-bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, a pool, media room, library and a terrace with a view of Los Angeles, sources say.
Although the property is officially listed as being in escrow, Spears liked the house so much that she has taken possession of the dwelling and the previous owner's contents.
And the pop star isn't the only celebrity in the community. Ed McMahon lives nearby, and Gwen Stefani recently bought a house once owned by Jennifer Lopez for more than $13 million, that's just around the corner.
Given all the high-profile neighbors, the new community will afford more privacy for Spears and her two sons, Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James, who was born in September.
"It's a great gated community where the tour buses won't be stopping at your front door or lookiloos driving by," said Kurt Rappaport, president of Westside Real Estate Agency. "She got good value for the property."

Lepaparazzi News Update: Sex in the City Movie Back On!
Since the show ended in 2004, rumors have swirled about the making of a Sex and the City movie, and finally, Kim Cattrall has confirmed to Star that fans will be getting their Christmas wish this year — the movie is officially back on!
But Catrall was apparently the last to know! Having spent the past three and half months acting in David Mamet's The Cryptogram in London, Cattrall admits she only found out about the film when she came back to the States.
"I've just come home and there was just this flood of excitement," Catrall tells Star. Though there have been reports that the Sex and the City film was unable to pick up speed because of behind-the-scenes drama between the actresses (Catrall reportedly refused to appear in the film previously), Kim was all smiles at the Armani Young Collector's Artist Ball at New York's Guggenheim Museum.
Catrall tells Star, "I'm just so glad we haven't been missed or forgotten!"

Lepaparazzi News Update: Naughty Nicole may face jail
NICOLE RICHIE faces jail if found guilty of driving under the influence, because, according to an American website, Nic already has a previous DUI conviction.
The socialite - famed for her 6st frame - was arrested after admitting she had taken Vicodin and smoked marijuana before driving the wrong way on a freeway on Monday night.
TMZ.com uncovered court documents revealing The Simple Life star pleaded no contest to driving under the influence in 2002.
Under Californian law, if Richie is convicted of her second DUI, a judge must impose a mandatory jail sentence of five consecutive days.
Richie was given three years probation for her DUI conviction four years ago and had her licence suspended for one year.
Six months later, Richie was arrested for possession of heroin and for driving with a suspended licence.

Lepaparazzi News Update: LOOKS like boozy blonde TARA REID is back to her old tricks
Earlier this year the American Pie star admitted she wanted to shed her image as a party girl and become known as a serious actress.
However after keeping a low-profile for a very credible few months, it appears the idea of a night out in London seemed too good to resist.
My snappers caught Tara stumbling out of London's Kabaret's Prophecy club in the early hours of Tuesday looking, to say the least, a little worse for wear.
Perhaps Tara was trying to make a last-ditch attempt to beat SARAH HARDING and land my Caner Of The Year title?

Lepaparazzi News Update: Jolie: Kids cemented relationship with Pitt
Image: HiCelebs
ANGELINA JOLIE says she wasn't looking for a relationship when she began working with BRAD PITT on "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," adding that the couple "remained very, very good friends" after shooting the movie.
Jolie didn't know where Pitt -- then married to "Friends" star JENNIFER ANISTON -- was in his personal life, the 31-year-old actress tells Vogue magazine in its January issue, on newsstands Friday. "But it was clear he was with his best friend, someone he loves and respects."
"I think we were both the last two people who were looking for a relationship. I certainly wasn't. I was quite content to be a single mom," Jolie tells the magazine.
"Because of the film we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened," she says.
Jolie remained "very, very good friends" with Pitt after shooting ended, she says. "And then life developed in a way where we could be together, where it felt like something we would do, we should do."
Pitt and Aniston announced their separation in January 2005. Aniston filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became final in October.
Pitt denied that Jolie was behind the split.
In late April, photos were published of Jolie and Pitt playing in the sand and strolling on a beach in Africa with her 3-year-old son, Maddox, whom she adopted from Cambodia.
In July, Pitt and Jolie went to Ethiopia, where Jolie adopted a baby girl, Zahara.
Jolie gave birth to the couple's daughter, Shiloh, in Namibia in May.
The actress says it was her children who ultimately cemented her relationship with Pitt as a family.
One day, Maddox "just out of the blue called him Dad. It was amazing. We were playing with cars on the floor of a hotel room, and we both heard it and didn't say anything and just looked at each other."
"So, that was probably the most defining moment, when he decided that we would all be a family."
In December 2005, Pitt filed a petition asking to change the names of Maddox and Zahara to Jolie-Pitt to indicate that he planned to become their adoptive father.
Pitt and Jolie appeared together Monday in New York City at the premiere of her new film, "The Good Shepherd."

Lepaparazzi News Update: Britney Spears No Panties Photos Inspired by Brad Pitt Film?
As the world tries to figure out exactly what Britney Spears was thinking when she went on her no panties world tour 2006 all around Los Angeles the theories run the gamut. Some believe the young mother of two just wanted to give her career a boost by creating a buzz.
Britney Spears No Panties Photos Inspired by Brad Pitt Film?
That was the whole idea behind that now famous lesbian kiss with Madonna on nationwide television from the MTV stage in 2003.
***
So I'm fairly certain these crotch shots were planned to get Britney back to the top of the search engines and back on newscasts and Internet blogs.
Certainly as sad as the display was - she accomplished that. I saw the flashbulbs popping on Britney from CNN to my local news and of course the entertainment media online was all over the scandal.
***
Now veteran gossip Janet Charlton takes a stab at Britney's mindset. Charlton writes that someone offered up the theory that perhaps Britney was inspired by the Brad Pitt film Babel.
I have yet to see the film but Janet reports that a main character, played to perfection by Rinko Kikuchi, is a disturbed mute Japanese schoolgirl who is desperate for attention.
She leaves her underpants at home and flashes startled onlookers in restaurants and such. Apparently the looks on their faces are gratifying to her. Maybe the newly single Britney was crying out for help with the same inappropriate behavior.
***
I don't think I can see Britney watching Babel, but one never knows.

Image: HiCelebs
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mary J. Blige, whose album "The Breakthrough" was perhaps the biggest in her career, was nominated for a leading eight Grammy Awards on Thursday, including album of the year. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were also multiple nominees, garnering six.
Other multiple nominees were the Dixie Chicks, British newcomer James Blunt, John Mayer, Prince, and the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am.
Blige was nominated for album of the year, record of the year for "Be Without You" and song of the year for the same track.
Other nominees for album of the year included the Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way," Gnarls Barkley's "St. Elsewhere," Mayer's "Continuum," Justin Timberlake's "FutureSex/LoveSounds," and the Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Stadium Arcadium."
Corrine Bailey Rae, a silky pop-soul singer from Britain, was nominated for best new artist, but was a surprise nominee for record of the year for "Put Your Records On." Other nominees in that category were Blunt's ubiquitous ballad, "You're Beautiful," Gnarls Barkley's psychedelic groove "Crazy," and the Dixie Chicks angry "Not Ready to Make Nice."
Besides Rae, other nominees for best new artist included teen R&B singer Chris Brown, Imogen Heap, Blunt, and former "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood. Gnarls Barkley, a duo of producer Danger Mouse and rapper/singer Cee-Lo, were surprisingly shut out. However, they did receive a total of four nominations.
Canadians earning Grammy attention included Nelly Furtado, Neil Young and Diana Krall.
Furtado is up for a best pop collaboration with vocal for her song "Promiscuous", with Timbaland.
She faces stiff competition from Grammy veterans including Tony Bennett & Stevie Wonder for their collaboration, "For Once In My Life," Mary J. Blige & U2 for "One;" Sheryl Crow & Sting for "Always On Your Side" and Shakira & Wyclef Jean for "Hips Don't Lie."
Furtado won for best female pop vocal performance at the 2001 Grammy Awards for "I'm Like A Bird."
Young is up for two trophies, vying for best rock album with his politically charged "Living With War" against John Mayer Trio's "Try!;" Tom Petty's "Highway Companion;" the Raconteurs "Broken Boy Soldiers;" and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Stadium Arcadium."
Young is also up for best rock solo vocal performance for his song "Looking for a Leader." Competition comes from Beck ("Nausea"), Bob Dylan ("Someday Baby"), John Mayer ("Route 66") and Tom Petty ("Saving Grace").
Daniel Powter of Vernon, B.C., is up for best pop male vocal for his song "Bad Day."
Last year, Young lost out on two Grammy nominations for his autobiographical album, "Prairie Wind," which marked a return to the rocker's country roots.
Krall is up for best jazz vocal album for her disc, "From This Moment On." She faces off against "Footprints" by Karrin Allyson, "Easy To Love" by Roberta Gambarini, "Live At Jazz Standard With Fred Hersch" by Nancy King, and "Turned To Blue" by Nancy Wilson.

Lepaparazzi News Update: Has Jessica Simpson Found a New Beau?
A report says Jessica was spotted out over the weekend with a guy that amazingly wasn't John Mayer or Tony Romo.
People Magazine is reporting that Jess and her co-star of 'Blonde Ambition,' Luke Wilson were out and about in Louisiana.
Was it a date? Hard to say.
The weekly entertainment magazine details that the unlikely pair were spotted checking out a local hot spot on Thursday night, sources told the magazine.
***
The report cites the sources that say the pals arrived at the upscale club Phoenix Underground so early that there were more employees there than patrons, according to a source at the club.
"Luke was there the night before, and he wanted to show the place to Jessica," the source says. "She was very friendly to everyone."
***
Phoenix Underground is a 14,000 square-foot club that was once a bank; it's dance floor used to be the bank's vault. Wilson spent about four hours there on Wednesday evening, according to the source.
At the club, Jessica posed for pictures and chatted with people for about a half hour before leaving with her costar.
***
Blonde Ambition is roughly based on 'Working Girl,' the 1980's hit movie that starred Melanie Griffith.

Lepaparazzi News Update: Britney Spear's New Party Lifestyle
Paris Hilton and Britney Spears have been buddies for weeks, but now the two new best pals are now displaying increasing levels of intimacy.
Rumors are circulating around Hollywood that Paris Hilton has been giving Britney Spears lessons in pole dancing and stripping.
"Paris Hitlon took Britney upstairs in her house where she fitted her in a blue tu-tu, and then Paris put on a matching tu-tu," the Sun quoted a source, as saying.
"They then went downstairs and danced at Paris's in-house stripper pole," the source elaborated.
In addition, it seems that Paris Hilton might be a bad influence on Britney's musical career as well, as the Toxic singer has allegedly become much too interested in clubbing lately to work on her much-anticipated new album.
Sources claim that rap star Pharrell Williams is furious with Britney for snubbing a music meeting with him.
[Source]
Britney Spears' wild partying is putting her music career in jeopardy.
The 'Toxic' singer - who recently filed for divorce from husband Kevin Federline - spent every
night of Thanksgiving weekend in Los Angeles partying until 6am with new best friend Paris
Hilton and the late nights are taking their toll.
A source told the New York Post newspaper:
"Britney has been missing recent recording sessions because she has been out all night
partying.
"Her label, Jive, is very worried."
The 24-year-old star, who has two young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, has been
telling her friends: "I gave birth for two-and-a-half years, and now I want to party."
Meanwhile, Britney has donated 170 personal items to an online auction at Christie's in aid of
the Britney Spears Foundation for children in need.
Among the items is a page from her junior high school notebook containing her handwritten
book report on Rex Warner's translation of Sophocles' 'Antigone'.
The essay is expected to fetch up to $700 at the auction, which takes place on December 4,
and is written in black ballpoint pen on both sides of the paper.
Britney got 88 out of 100 for her efforts and gained comments from her teacher including "Nice" and "Organised".
