The Debut of Danity Kane

LePaparazzi Celebrity News Updates

After three torturous seasons, the ladies of Making the Band 3 are finally set to release their debut album. Thanks to a heavy push from MTV and the teens that dutifully watch it, searches on Danity Kane have overwhelmed the Search box and left us dazed by the power of Diddy.

We assumed we were probably the only ones over the age of 18 still following the epic journey of this prefab band and searches proved us right. Almost three-quarters of queries on the show come from the under-18 crowd. And while Diddy tried to fill out his fabulous fivesome with hotties for dudes to ogle, over 80% of the searches on the show and the band are from the ladies.

With the final episode of season three of MTB3 finally here, fans are fired up about the ladies who now perform under the name Danity Kane. Searches on the group are up a whopping 570% this week, placing the divas of Danity in our top 100 searches. Folks seeking out more info on the long-gestating band are busy looking for "danity kane video" and "danity kane lyrics."
As for the individual parts of the band, Aubrey O'Day has been the leader in buzz since her bravura performance in season one. Searches on the blonde temptress are up 61% this week, but the other ladies of Kane are starting to come on strong in Buzz.

The beautiful dimples of Aundrea Fimbres (+191%) are smiling on Search, proving that Aubrey isn't alone in her appeal. Danity's debut single, "Show Stopper," is a hit with searchers. Buzz on the poptastic tune is up a staggering 5,000% after the penultimate episode featured the making of the song's video.

Close watchers of the show have followed up on a few of the strangely addictive songs featured on season three, and are responsible for searches on "danity kane sleep on it" and "danity kane ride for you."

While Rome was built in less time than it took Diddy to put together five girls who could dance in syncopation, Buzz is proving Puff knew what he was doing when he built his latest chart toppers.

Ben Affleck: Fatherhood 'Changed My Life'

Ben Affleck

Since getting married and becoming a dad, Ben Affleck is a changed man, he told reporters Friday at a Beverly Hill press conference for his new movie, Hollywoodland.

"I love being a father," the actor, who turns 34 on Tuesday, said. "It's wonderful. It's changed my life.

It all sounds like platitudes and clichés, and that's because they're the truth." He's even proving his babysitting skills with Violet, his 8-month-old daughter with wife Jennifer Garner, 33.

Just a few days ago, he said, Garner left him in charge of the baby – but first explained how to feed her. "(Jennifer said,) 'You take the peaches in the thing and you stir that up and you put that in with a little oatmeal and then put that in with a little bit of the crushed pears.' Then she looked at me and said, 'In all seriousness, is this too complicated?' That's my wife."

Affleck is currently working on a his directorial debut, Gone, Baby, Gone, a mystery based on a Dennis Lehane novel that filmed in Affleck's Boston hometown and stars his brother, Casey.

In Hollywoodland, in theaters Sept. 8, Affleck plays actor George Reeves, who played the Man of Steel on TV's Adventures of Superman and died under mysterious circumstances in 1959.

Charlie & Denise Make Peace, For Now

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards

The acrimonious divorce battle between Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards is over – for now, according to a joint statement by their lawyers.

"Both parties have amicably resolved any outstanding issues on an interim basis," Sheen's attorney, Lance Spiegel, said Monday outside a Los Angeles courthouse with Richards's lawyer, Neal Hersh, by his side.

However, the divorce has not been finalized.

Sheen, 40, and Richards, 35, were not present at the brief hearing, which took place in judge's quarters.

Attorneys for both declined to comment on questions regarding whether a restraining order against Sheen would be extended or what the custody arrangements would be for the couple's daughters Sam, 2, and Lola, 1.

In an order of protection that expired today, Sheen was required to stay at least 300 yards from Richards and their daughters, except for supervised visits with the children.

Sheen and Richards wed in June 2002; Richards filed for divorce in March 2005 while pregnant with Lola. Richards is now dating Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, 47, while Sheen has been spotted with real estate investor Brooke Mueller, 28.

Matt Lauer, Wife Expecting Third Child

Annette and Matt Lauer

Matt Lauer and wife Annette are expecting their third child. The Today host, 48, confirmed the news in an interview with Sunday's New York Times magazine in a story about his soon-to-be cohost, Meredith Vieira.

He and Annette, 40, are already parents to son Jack, 5, and daughter Romy, who turns 3 in October. "I was on Today for five years before I had children," Lauer tells the Times magazine. "And back then the job took up a larger slice of the pie graph of my life than was healthy.

When I had kids, that immediately changed. It flipped." Lauer and the former Annette Roque, a model turned stay-at-home mom, wed in October 1998. This spring, after it was announced that Today cohost Katie Couric was leaving, Lauer extended his contract with NBC to stay on the show through 2011.

But work is not his top priority. "His wife and children are at the center of his universe," Lauer's former Today boss, Jeff Zucker, told PEOPLE in 2004, "and everything revolves around that." Indeed, Lauer told PEOPLE, "Now I define myself by what happens when I walk in that door after work. (Jack) looks at you and goes, 'Papa.'

He wants a hug, and then he wants to show you his (toy) planes. My son is a rascal. He'll have a glass of water in the living room. You'll say, 'Jack, do not pour that water.' And he'll look at you and … he'll pour it." Little sister Romy, Dad said, "is the polar opposite. Incredibly sweet."

Tom and Katie Comfort Accident Victims

Holmes and Cruise

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes helped comfort a pair of shaken accident victims Saturday night, PEOPLE has learned. A rep for the couple confirms that Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 27, were on their way home from the airport after a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, for an exhibition soccer game (their friend David Beckham and his team, Real Madrid, beat Real Salt Lake 2-0), when they saw a couple on L.A.'s 101 Freeway who had apparently just been in a car accident. The engaged pair and parents to 4-month-old daughter Suri checked to make sure the passengers, Jon Henningsen and his wife, were not seriously injured, then waited with them until the police and fire department arrived on the scene.

Zhang Ziyi didn't act like a prima donna on the set of a recent Chinese movie despite her newfound Hollywood fame, agreeing to shave her eyebrows for the role and even serving homemade soup to the crew, the film's director said.

"Before we worked together, I might have thought, `Oh, Zhang Ziyi, a big star, it won't be easy to work with her,'" Feng Xiaogang, who cast Zhang in his upcoming film, "The Banquet," told The Associated Press on Sunday.

"But when the work got underway, I asked her to shave her eyebrows. She did it. During filming, she was very thoughtful. When she saw people in cinematography and the art department were working hard, she'd make soup and bring it to them," Feng recalled.
"Our collaboration was especially happy," he said.

Feng said Zhang was sad when she had to leave "The Banquet" to promote the film "Memoirs of a Geisha" in the U.S., and had been eager to get back to the set.

Zhang shot to international fame after appearing in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." She has gone on to make Hollywood movies like "Rush Hour 2" and "Memoirs."
"The Banquet" is inspired by the Shakespeare play "Hamlet."

McConaughey Sells Car for Storm Victims

Matthew McConaughey

One lucky eBay bidder paid $61,600 to buy Matthew McConaughey's 1971 Corvette Stingray, the Associated Press reports.

But the real winners of the auction are the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, who will benefit from the proceeds of the sale. McConaughey, 36, agreed to donate the money to Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network for Katrina and Rita recovery efforts.

The Texas native – and PEOPLE's reigning Sexiest Man Alive – called the Corvette "a luxury that I'm willing to relinquish (to) help so many with the necessities in life."

He said the car, which he had dubbed Mako (like the mako shark), had carried him across his home state and down to Mexico many times.

Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, and Rita touched down in southeast Texas on Sept. 24.

Bidding on the car ended on July 27 with 72 bids total. The winner of the auction wasn't named.

Actress Suzanne Pleshette is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer that was caught at an early stage, her agent said Friday.

The cancer, discovered during a routine X-ray, is the size of "a grain of sand and was caught very much in time," said agent Joel Dean. "She feels very lucky. ... She's not concerned and in great spirits."

Pleshette, 69, is receiving chemotherapy as an outpatient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where the cancer was diagnosed, he said.

The actress is best known for her role in "The Bob Newhart Show," the 1970s comedy in which she played Newhart's sardonic wife, Emily. Her extensive TV credits include "8 Simple Rules" and "Will & Grace," and her throaty voice has been heard in "Spirited Away" and other recent animated films.

Her films include "If It's Tuesday This Must Be Belgium" and "Oh God! Book II."

Phillips Released in Domestic Case

Lou Diamond Phillips

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips was released from jail on his own recognizance Friday following his arrest for allegedly physically abusing his live-in girlfriend.

"Our office reviewed the case today and referred it to the city attorney's hearing program. The parties will come in and sit with one of our attorneys, who will try to mediate the situation," said Jonathan Diamond, a city attorney's spokesman.

"Charges could be filed down the road, but we're trying to resolve this through the hearing program," Diamond added.

Phillips, best known for his roles in "La Bamba" and "Stand and Deliver," was initially taken into custody for investigation of felony domestic violence, said police officer Marjan Mobasser.

Officers were called about 2 a.m. to a home in the Northridge section of Los Angeles, Mobasser said.

Paris Hilton Bitten by Pet Kinkajou

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton got no love this week from her pet kinkajou Baby Luv in fact, the racoon-like animal bit her. The heiress was not badly hurt but did visit a hospital emergency room to receive a tetanus shot, her publicist, Elliot Mintz, told The Associated Press on Friday.

Hilton was frolicking with her exotic pet early Tuesday morning "the way some people play with their cats and dogs" when the animal became excited, Mintz said.

"Baby Luv bit her. It's a superficial bite on her left arm," he said.

Hilton, concerned that she was bleeding, called Mintz at 3 a.m., and he took her to the hospital.
"She was seen by a doctor, who treated the wound, gave her a tetanus shot, cleaned the wound and applied something to it," Mintz said.

The 25-year-old "Simple Life" star and her publicist left the hospital around 5:30 a.m.
Mintz said Hilton's arm did not appear to be swollen the next day.

She also felt well enough to continue promotions for her highly anticipated debut album "Paris," set for release Aug. 22.

Hilton's breathy single "Stars Are Blind" has already jumped up Billboard's dance music charts.
"Yesterday she did two photo shoots and two magazine covers," Mintz said. "She's OK, she's fine. Anyone in this situation would do well to have the wound looked at."
Baby Luv was checked out by a veterinarian Wednesday.

"I don't view kinkajous as aggressive animals. The same kind of thing could have occurred with a German Shepherd," Mintz said.
