Journalist Begs For Pearl's Forgiveness At Cannes.... The Cnn reporter who asked grieving widow Mariane Pearl if she'd seen the video of her husband's execution used the press conference surrounding Angelina Jolie's new film to apologise for his thoughtlessness.
Chris Burns stunned Pearl with his tough questions during a TV interview in February 2002 and begged her forgiveness during a Cannes Film Festival press conference on Monday (21May07).
The journalist stood as Pearl, Jolie - who plays her in new film A Mighty Heart - and Brad Pitt were promoting the movie, and reminded the single mother of his poor judgment.
Burns said, "Have you maybe forgiven me for that question? It was journalistic instinct that I regret."
Smiling Pearl said, "I accept your apologies."
