Nick Lachey: I Don't Want to Hurt Jessica

LePaparazzi News Updates

Nick Lachey

Despite the fact that his upcoming album, What's Left of Me, contains many songs that refer to the breakup of his marriage to Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey insists he doesn't mean to hurt his estranged wife – and that he still loves her.

"It's not in any way vindictive or an assault on her," Lachey, 32, said in his MTV special, Nick Lachey: What's Left of Me, which aired Saturday.

"In a lot of ways, it's more of an assault on me." Lachey also recently told Rolling Stone that Simpson "blindsided" him when she asked for a divorce and that he doesn't know whether "there were other men."

Simpson, 25, filed for divorce in December after three years of marriage. On whether he could be seen as attacking his ex, Lachey said on the MTV special, "Jessica knows I still love her."

Ironically, MTV first chronicled the couple in happier times – and turned them into A-list celebrities – with Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. Saturday's program was in connection with Lachey's new album, set for release on May 9.

On it, he sings about the breakup of his marriage on the disc's title track, "What's Left of Me," and songs such as "I Can't Hate You Anymore" Since the split, Lachey said he's "more guarded.

I can't be as open with people because I've been burned." He went on to say his "biggest fear is being alone" and feeling as though he'll "never find that person that you're looking for, especially when you thought you had it." But he's still optimistic: "Do I believe that I'll fall in love again one day? I certainly hope so. I certainly hope I'm not going to be the jerk, uncle, bachelor the rest of my life.

You know, it's not what I envisioned for myself, but at the same time, when I got married, that was it for me, you know, that was my life." Last week, PEOPLE reported that Simpson has resumed wearing her wedding ring on a chain around her neck.

"You can still move on and have the memories," a source close to her told the magazine, noting that Simpson still speaks to her soon-to-be-ex-husband. "Nick will always be an important part of her life."

Tom Cruise: I Change Diapers

Tom Cruise

New dad Tom Cruise isn't letting fatherhood slow him down. Less than a week after the birth of his daughter, Suri, Cruise, 43, flew to Rome, Italy, on Monday for the world premiere of Mission: Impossible III.

"My own mission impossible was getting here today," Cruise told reporters at the movie's press event on Monday. "Kate said, 'Go have fun.'"

Last Tuesday, Cruise's fiancée, Katie Holmes, gave birth to the couple's first child together.

Early in the day on Monday, Cruise said he planned to stay in Rome for only eight hours before returning to Los Angeles to be with Holmes and their new daughter Suri. However he changed his plans and will continue on to do press in London on Tuesday and Paris on Wednesday.

A leather-jacket clad Cruise made a grand entrance at the press event Monday, bounding onstage to wild cheers while costar Philip Seymour Hoffman was talking to reporters. "Sorry to interrupt," he said. "I just got off an airplane, so I'm way too tired."

Asked about baby duties, Cruise was quick to reply. "I changed her first. I change diapers all the time. We've got a whole system worked out – the B&B. (Katie) does the breastfeeding and I do the burping," he said. "And changing the diapers." When the film's director J.J. Abrams asked Cruise if he'd slept properly since his baby's birth, the star said: "I haven't slept once." Added Cruise: "It's wonderful to be back in Rome. ... I have my newborn daughter. I didn't want to leave her."

It was nearly a year ago exactly that Cruise and Holmes made their first public appearance as a couple in Rome.

Later on Monday, Cruise and his costars took to the stage at Rome's Piazza del Popolo for an appearance in front of several thousand people. When one fan threw a teddy bear towards Cruise, the actor picked it up and thanked the crowd.

"Thank you so much. Thank you for the warm welcome you have given to my daughter Suri and fiancée Katie, and I just love you all." Cruise proved that love at the movie's premiere Monday night.

He spent two and a half hours on the red carpet, signing autographs, posing for photos and answering reporters' questions. With him on the red carpet: his daughter Isabella, 13, and son Connor, 11.

As for heading on to Paris, Cruise said: "The next time I go to Paris – that's where I asked Katie to marry me – I want to go with her and my family."

Entourage's Kevin Dillon Weds

Jane Stuart and Kevin Dillon

Entourage actor Kevin Dillon married his girlfriend, model-actress Jane Stuart in Las Vegas on Saturday, his rep has confirmed to PEOPLE.

"The couple, who had been engaged for over a year, had been planning a formal wedding date, but Mr. Dillon’s schedule with Poseidon and Entourage had made it difficult," Dillon's spokesperson, Tiffany Kuzon, said in a statement.

"Entourage castmates Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Connolly were present at the ceremony." Kuzon also said that the couple are expecting their first child this summer.

Dillon, 40, and Stuart, 28, met through a mutual friend, began dating in 2004 and got engaged the following year. "I had to fight a little bit because she wasn't all that interested in me when I asked her out," Dillon told PEOPLE last year. "But she saw things my way eventually."

In HBO's hit comedy Entourage, which begins its new season in June, Dillon plays an obscure actor whose brother is an A-list celebrity – a role that spoofs his real-life relationship with older brother Matt.

Next month, Dillon will be seen in Poseidon, next month's big-screen remake of the ocean-disaster classic The Poseidon Adventure. He has also acted in the movie Platoon and on the TV shows 24 and NYPD Blue.

Denise Richards & Richie Sambora Hook Up

Denise Richards and Richie Sambora have been getting cozy: The pair were spotted kissing in Southern California this weekend, PEOPLE reports.

On Saturday, Richards, 35, and Sambora, 46, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Heather Locklear, arrived at Le Café in the Westlake Village neighborhood outside Los Angeles at about 5 p.m. in separate cars.

In the parking lot, the two kissed then walked hand-in-hand, smiling and chatting the entire way as they headed for the restaurant.

Inside, they shared a table in the covered patio where they gazed into each other's eyes and held hands across the table.

Eventually, Richards planted a kiss on Sambora's hand – and he returned the gesture, kissing hers. They then kissed again on the lips.

They left the restaurant at 5:45 p.m. in the same car together. Sambora has a home in Westlake Village.

On Friday, Richards filed a 17-page court document claiming that her estranged husband, Charlie Sheen, had threatened to kill her.

The actress also claims that during their marriage, Sheen abused prescription medication, had violent mood swings, was a compulsive gambler and visited pornography Web sites featuring "very young girls."

Sheen has called Richards' claims "vile" and "baseless." Richards originally filed for divorce in March of last year, when she was six months pregnant with the couple's daughter Lola.

The pair appeared to briefly reconcile after Lola's birth in June, but on Jan. 4, they requested that their divorce proceed with a private arbitrator.

In February, Sambora – who's the guitarist for Bon Jovi – split from Locklear, his wife of 11 years. The couple have an 8-year-old daughter, Ava. Richards and Locklear are pals who grew even closer during Richards's split from Sheen.

Locklear, who starred with Sheen in Spin City, attended Richards's baby shower before she gave birth to her daughter Lola – and helped take care of the baby after she was born. Richards's rep had no comment.
