Poor Ben. Although he's looking great here with the cast of Hollywoodland at the Venice Film Festival, he's been having some trouble getting the American public's interest. Apparently, Ben has been cut as much as possible from Hollywoodland commercials because focus groups still weren't ready to see much of him yet--perhaps due to tabloid overexposure.
As reported in Defamer, Affleck responded that "I think more and more people pay attention to actor's private lives ... it makes it difficult to suspend disbelief when you are going to watch their movie because really what you are thinking about is whatever you have read about them in a magazine rather than the performance they are giving." Okay. Ben does have a point, but bemoaning the paparazzi's influence isn't going to give him his fame back. I suppose after films like Gigli and Daredevil, Ben does have to catch up--and catch our interest again. Good luck!
