Madonna and Guy Ritchie prepare for custody battle
Couple row over where to raise children
Guy Ritchie has told friends he doesn’t want a penny of Madonna’s fortune.
The director, who could be awarded up to £75 million in their divorce settlement, is said to be solely concerned about custody arrangements for their children.
‘I think [Guy] is relieved that it's all out there. He doesn't have to fake it any more,’ a friend tells People.
It's thought Madonna, 50, wants Lourdes, 12, her daughter with ex Carlos Leon, Rocco, 8, and adopted David Banda, 3, to be raised in New York. But Guy, 40, wants them to stay in Britain.
'Madonna wants them to be brought up in the cosmopolitan environment of New York,’ says a source. 'Guy wants them to continue growing up in London and Wiltshire, being privately educated in Britain.
'This has been the major stumbling block as to why their lawyers have not been able to negotiate an out-of-court settlement.' This week Madonna was on stage in Boston for her Sticky & Sweet tour and launched into a thinly veiled attack on Guy.
This song is for the emotionally retarded,’ she said before performing Miles Away, a song about a couple growing apart.
‘Maybe you know some people who fall into that category. I know I do.' She also opened the show with her track I'm Not Sorry and told the crowd: 'That's right, I'm not sorry.
