Saturday host Britney Spears

Britney Spears is reportedly set to host US TV sketch show 'Saturday Night Live'.

The singer - who is releasing her new album 'Circus' on December 2 - will present the sketch show for the third time on November 22, gossip website Celebuzz.com has claimed.

Britney - who broke records for being the youngest person in history to host and perform when she appeared on 'Saturday Night Live' eight years ago aged 18, and also hosted the programme in 2002 - is hoping a role on the hit series will help secure her comeback.

A source said: "Britney is in final talks to appear on 'Saturday Night Live' on November 22. She is really nervous about it, but thinks it will finally convince people she has put her troubled past behind her and has the ability to laugh at herself."

Britney may also perform a track from her new record on the show.
The decision follows Britney's successful performance on US TV sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' earlier this year.

Critics praised the 26-year-old star for her comic timing, and ratings of the series were boosted so much that Britney was invited onto a second episode.
