Morgan Freeman has broken up with his wife Myrna Colley-Lee after 24 years.

The Dark Knight star - who was involved in a serious car crash on Sunday – split from her at Christmas but kept it quiet.

‘[They] are involved in a divorce action,’ lawyer Bill Luckett tells Access Hollywood.

‘For legal and practical purposes, [Morgan and Myrna] have been separated since December of 2007.’

Morgan, 71, has 4 children - 2 from his previous marriage to Jeanette Bradshaw and 2 from earlier relationships.

He is currently recovering in the Regional Medical Center in Memphis following extensive surgery on his arm.

His female passenger, Demaris Meyer, was also treated in hosptal after the crash.

Both had to be cut free from the wreckage and airlifted to hospital.

Morgan Freeman Released From Hospital

Morgan Freeman is in the clear.

The Oscar-winning actor was discharged Thursday from a Tennessee hospital after he was treated for broken bones and other injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.

Freeman was discharged, a spokeswoman for the Regional Medical Center said, giving no further details.

The 71-year-old actor was hospitalized after an accident Sunday left him with a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage.

Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, a passenger in the car driven by Freeman, was also injured in the crash.

Freeman’s lawyer, Bill Luckett, said Freeman and his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee, had been separated since December and are getting a divorce.

No divorce papers have been filed in Tallahatchie County where Freeman owns a home with Colley-Lee, according to Tallahatchie County Chancery Clerk Anita Mullen Greenwood.

Morgan Freeman Recovering After Surgery

The Dark Knight actor Morgan Freeman is recovering from surgery after a dramatic car crash Sunday night.

“Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand,” his spokesperson, Donna Lee, said Tuesday.

“The surgery last night lasted four and a half hours. He’s visiting with family this morning. As of this morning he’s up and walking around and looking forward to his release in a few days.”

Freeman, 71, and family friend Demaris Meyer, 48, were driving on a rural road in Mississippi near the actor’s home when his car careened off the road and flipped over before landing upright in a ditch.

The two were airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where the actor was treated for a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage, his rep said yesterday.

Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said Tuesday that Freeman remained in serious condition.

Morgan Freeman in “Serious” Condition After Car Crash

Morgan Freeman is not doing well after he was injured in a car accident Sunday night.

The Dark Knight actor’s condition is “serious,” a spokesperson from the Regional Medical Center in Memphis confirmed to CelebTV.com.

The 71-year-old actor collided with another car. The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. near his home in Ruleville, Miss., and had to be airlifted to the hospital in Memphis.

Freeman was with an unidentified woman in the car. Her condition is unknown.
