Isaac Hayes, Legendary Singer-Songwriter, Dies at 65
Soul legend found unconscious at home
Soul legend Isaac Hayes has died.
The musician, who suffered a stroke in 2006, was found unconscious at home in Memphis, Tennessee, and pronounced dead at 7.08pm after being taken to hospital.
Isaac – a contemporary of Al Green, James Brown and Stevie Wonder – was known for his deep voice as well as his talent as a pianist, saxophone player and songwriter.
He won an Academy Award for the theme tune to the film Shaft, which was a huge hit in 1971.
A Scientologist, Isaac was married four times and had 12 children.
On 20 August, he would have been 66.
