Madonna's A-Rod 'love shack'

Madonna and Alex Rodriguez had a "secret love shack" they frequently visited over the last year.

The singer - who announced she was divorcing British director Guy Ritchie after almost eight years of marriage earlier this week - was first linked to the baseball player, who is nicknamed A-Rod, in July but new reports say they have been enjoying clandestine meetings since July 2007 at a New York apartment rented by the sports star.

Fox News online columnist Roger Friedman claims A-Rod "had sub-let a 'secret love shack' in the Time Warner Center last summer".

He added: "I confirmed that Madonna was a frequent guest to the building, which was a very different address from the apartment A-Rod shared with his now ex-wife."

The property - just a few blocks away from the '4 Minutes' star's base in the city - is apparently still occupied by Alex.

Meanwhile, Madonna, 50 and Alex, 33, are reportedly planning a trip to Malawi together when her 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour comes to an end.

The singer has been heavily involved in charity work in the African region - where her adopted son David Banda was born - and wants to take Alex on a fact-finding mission to generate publicity for her Raising Malawi charity.

A source from the Kabbalah Centre in New York City - where Madonna practises the faith - says that before that trip, "expect them to make a public appearance together here".

Alex was seen at Madonna's New York concert on October 12 and wasn't concerned about keeping a low-profile.

A source said: "Before the show A-Rod wasn't there, but after the lights went down and she started singing, he came in and sat right at the front."
