Christina Aguilera throws son Max first birthday bash

It appears that Christina Aguilera's party planning paid off in a major way, as guests enjoyed a recent birthday bash held in honor of her son, Max.

Max has come a long way since his parents first began filling the baby album, turning one year old on January 12th.

This past weekend, he finally got to celebrate the event with a party inspired by the classic Maurice Sendak book, Where the Wild Things Are, People magazine reports.

In addition to his mother, Little Max was joined by his father, Jordan Bratman, and 40 additional guests.

Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and their daughter Harlow were reportedly among those who enjoyed a lunch of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches in a setting decorated with blue, green and pink balloons.

A few costumed characters from the book even stopped by to say hello to the tots, which may have created some memorable scenes for the photo albums.

Aguilera and Bratman debuted photos from Max's baby album in a February 2008 issue of People magazine.
